As you probably know, EASI started to build its own cloud 4 years ago. The name is Cloud2be. In order to deliver the best level of service, EASI has chosen to remain independent in the design, the ownership, the maintenance and the management of Cloud2be.
The whole infrastructure is owned by EASI and housed in a professional Tier III+ DataCenter managed by Proximus. Up to now, IP adresses used by EASI were delivered from Proximus, our partner for more than 10 years.
To gain more flexibility for its customers, EASI decided a few months ago to get registered as independent RIPE member.
Thanks to the work delivered by our colleague Cédric Goset, this dream has just become reality !
There are many benefits to this :
- EASI will have more IP addresses available, which is very important since they are becoming more and more scarce;
- This will offer more flexibility to EASI and its customers;
- Better reactivity from EASI;
- Ability to deliver provider-independent redundancy for connectivity to Cloud2be.
Another great news related to this new RIPE membership is the deployement of IPv6 for our Cloud services. However, that's another story... I'll expand on it shortly in another article ;-)
