Since January 2016, VAT returns, which are usually submitted on the eTVA platform, can also be submitted on the eCDF platform. The idea being that ultimately everything will be done using the same eCDF platform.

The eTVA platform and its features

Up to 31/12/2016, the eTVA system enabled those subject to Luxembourg VAT:

- to submit their VAT returns online (monthly, quarterly and annual)
- to submit applications for VAT refunds through the VAT Refund system
- to download VAT forms

In fact, the eTVA system was mainly intended for accountants and for fiduciaries who are responsible for submitting their customers’ returns to the Administration de l'Enregistrement et des Domaines (Luxembourg registry).

Incorporation of eTVA into the eCDF system

From 2017, it will no longer be possible to submit returns through the eTVA system. All returns should be submitted on the eCDF platform. The eCDF platform has, for a few years, already allowed abbreviated and full annual accounts to be submitted electronically (in XML format).

This fusion of both platforms aims to standardise returns procedures on a single system: the eCDF.  The latter aims to establish itself as the reference in terms of returns. Perhaps in the future, tax returns will be incorporated into it...

Requests to access eCDF

eTVA users can already activate the procedures for requesting access to the eCDF system so that they do not encounter any difficulties in January 2017, even though the final shut-down date is not yet known.

Looking for a suitable accounting solution?

Adfinity already allows returns to be submitted electronically on the eTVA or eCDF system. EASIE will enable electronic returns intended for the Luxembourg authorities to be generated easily (eTVA, eECDF, FAIA). A new user-friendly interface will enable Adfinity users to benefit from this added value. Adfinity will also allow annual VAT returns to be generated.

These new functionalities will be available in Adfinity from 1 April 2017.
