Why you will love Power BI

Smooth and correct data management is difficult if you work with multiple users in one Excel sheet. Power BI is ideal for smooth, correct and clear data management in a corporate context. Discover how this tool will make the difference for you.

First things first.

What exactly is the difference between Power BI and Excel?

Excel ...

That's easy to explain. You can create a personal document in Excel. You put the data in it. You process the data. You make the changes and you can also enter new data in it. Very handy, but you can already feel me coming. If you can, others can do the same and of course errors can creep into your document.

Vs. Power BI

Power BI is best compared to a corporate document. It has a completely different structure. It starts from the data that are automatically inserted in your document. The 'builder/maker' or the creator of this document has to indicate once which data he wants to include, where it has to be taken from and what manipulations have to be done with it.

Practical example?

Suppose your CFO calls you in the morning because he wants to have the latest information on certain numbers. If you're not in the office and you haven't updated your Excel sheet yet, you can't submit that report until the end of that day or, in the worst case, the next day. With a Power BI document, you can give everyone a kind of 'log in' for your document. In that case, the CFO can ask for the latest figures at the push of a button without having to bother you. That's why this is called Power BI. BI stands for Business Intelligence.

Practical applications

The practical applications for Power BI are almost unlimited. It is highly recommended for anyone who spontaneously starts to mouth water when hearing real-time data reporting.

Power BI is a real winner in retrieving data, he goes to extremes. It's intuitive to load & automatically update the datasets several times a day.

  • Directly from Datawarehouses with SQL
  • O365 & SharePoint connectors
  • Excel/CSV files
  • IBM Notes/Domino
  • Power I via DB2

Once the necessary reports have been drawn up in Power BI, you can share them seamlessly with colleagues, or even better... You can integrate them into your favourite office 365 products: SharePoint and Teams.
