Everyone has heard of Pernod Ricard at some point in their life. You may even have gotten the opportunity to taste their incredible fine beverages. Personally I really enjoy their 18 year old Glenlivet single malt whiskey, at home that is, we don't to mix drinking and driving.
Backup and restore test - The scope :
The scope was very straight forward. If something happens to my infrastructure, then what?
- How much data will I loose? RPO, short for Recovery Point Objective.
- How much time will it take to setup a new infrastructure? RTO, short for Recovery Time Objective.
- What technical problems might I experience? From incompactible hardware to discrepanties in my data.
- What functional problems might I experience? From licenses to non-functional procedures and interfaces.
- Is my backup as good as I intended it to be? Does it contain everything I need or has something changed over the years?
- And last but not least: can it actually be done? And if so, show me how and show me it can be done. I want to see my system with my own eyes and work on it like I did before.
