Veeam just recently released a new, free, product called "Veeam Endpoint Backup FREE".
Veeam Endpoint Backup Free is a software that allows you to easily backup desktops and laptops.
You can perform backups towards external hard disks, to a NAS, or you can even integrate Veeam Endpoint Backup with Veeam Backup & Replication repository.
I had the opportunity to test it for the past few weeks, and I must say: It's great in every aspect. It's simple to use, it's simple to do a restore, and it just works.
The 150 page user manual is good, and provides all the details you need, but I doubt you'll ever open it: The product is self-explaining.
Although you can only create one backup-job (remember: It's all about simplicity), it does offer some great features:
- Do manual backups or have them scheduled
- Create file-level backup of volume-based backup
- Make use of features like deduplication
- Perform volume restores, or file level restores
- And much, much more
I also tested the recovery possibilities, and I did not encounter any issue with that. File-restores just work, and even restoring complete volumes, even system volumes, works fast and as expected.
As far as the administration part: You configure it once, and for the rest you forget about it. Veeam Endpoint Backup FREE automatically creates full and incremental backups, and does clean up backups that are no longer needed.
You can install it on Windows 7 SP1 and above, both on 32-bit and 64-bit systems.
